Pizza is one of the tastiest foods you can eat and one you can enjoy in many different forms. How to Cook Pizza in a Toaster Oven. But when you own a toaster oven.
In this guide, we will show you how to cook Pizza from fresh or frozen, make mini pizzas, or reheat a pizza you had from the day before.
HOMEMADE PIZZA
The following is for a 9-inch pizza.
STEP 1: PLACE RACK
Rack placement depends on your toaster oven. If you have a toaster oven with only one rack, you only have one place to put your Pizza.
If you have two or more racks, remember:
- Placing the Pizza on the bottom rack will lead to a browner, crispier pizza base.
- Placing the Pizza on the top rack will lead to browner cheese.
STEP 2: PRE-HEAT OVEN
Pre-heat your toaster oven to 425F either using the temperature control or the Bake option. Pre-heating times may vary depending on the brand and model of toaster oven you own. Generally, an over should be up to 425F in 10 minutes.
STEP 3: PREPARE BAKING TRAY
Take your baking tray and grease it either using cooking spray or a spoon of oil.
STEP 4: ROLL DOUGH
Roll out your dough until it has stretched to a size that will fill the baking pan.
STEP 5: PLACE IN PAN
Place your dough into the baking pan. Cut away any edges if the dough is too big.
STEP 6: BRUSH DOUGH
Use a fork to make holes in the dough. This action will help the dough to cook better. Brush the dough with olive oil.
STEP 7: ADD SAUCE
Add any sauces you want to the Pizza. Do not overload with too much sauce.
STEP 8: ADD TOPPINGS
Add toppings to the Pizza. Some toppings may need to have been precooked before adding, as they will not get enough cooking time in the oven to be safely eaten if raw. Items such as chicken and prawns, especially if thick chunks, should definitely have had some cooking time before being added to the Pizza.
STEP 9: ADD CHEESE
Add mozzarella and/or any other cheeses you want to your Pizza. Remember, the cheese will melt. If you add too much, it will pool on the side of the baking tray and could burn.
STEP 10: PUT IN TOASTER OVEN
Place the Pizza into the toaster oven as quickly as possible. Ensure you do not leave the toaster oven door open for too long, as the toaster oven will be losing heat at this time.
STEP 11: BAKE
Allow the Pizza to bake for 20 minutes.
If possible, allow the Pizza to cook on a low rack for the first 15 minutes, and shift it to the top rack for the last 5 minutes. This process will allow for the crust to cook nicely and the cheese to brown well.
STEP 12: REMOVE FROM OVEN
After 20 minutes, remove the tray from the oven. Use oven gloves as the tray will be very hot.
STEP 13: SERVE
Cut and serve the Pizza immediately.
FROZEN PIZZA
WARNING: Before attempting to cook a frozen pizza in a toaster oven, check the box for cooking instructions. Some brands of Pizza will not cook well in a toaster oven.
STEP 1: CHECK THE SIZE OF THE PIZZA
Toaster ovens come with a limited capacity. If you have a larger pizza, you may need to cut it into two halves to cook it.
It is better to buy Pizza that will fit in the oven. Cutting a frozen pizza in two will lead to some toppings and cheese coming off the Pizza as it cooks.
STEP 2: PRE-HEAT THE TOASTER OVEN
Either pre-heat the toaster oven to the highest temperature or the temperature stated on the frozen Pizza box. Larger toaster ovens will require 10 minutes to pre-heat. Smaller toaster ovens may be ready in 5 minutes.
STEP 3: PREPARE PIZZA
Remove the packaging from the Pizza. As this is a frozen pizza, you will not need a tray. Therefore, preparation is limited, and you can get the Pizza ready a minute before it is due to go in.
STEP 4: PLACE PIZZA IN THE OVEN
Place the Pizza directly onto a rack in the oven. As mentioned previously, this is a frozen pizza, so a tray is not required. In fact, using a tray will mean that the pizza base is not being directly heated by the heating elements in the toaster oven. This will result in a less crispy crust.
STEP 5: ALLOW PIZZA TO COOK
If you pre-heated your oven to the maximum temperature, allow the Pizza to cook for 5 to 6 minutes. Keep an eye on the Pizza. Use your judgment to determine whether the Pizza has cooked long enough before the five to 6 minutes are up.
If you used the cooking instructions on the pizza box, cook your Pizza for the time stated on the box.
STEP 6: REMOVE PIZZA FROM THE OVEN
Once you see that the Pizza is cooked to your preference, remove the Pizza from the oven.
